The Year of the Bachelor Button!
The Bachelor's Button has been designated by the National Garden Bureau in 2001 as the flower of the year. The most readily available centaurea species are C. cyannus (cornflower or bachelor's button); C. americana (basket flower) and C. montana (mountain blue or perennial cornflower). C. cineraria (dusty miller) is a well-known member of the Centaurea genus grown as a bedding plant for its grayish-green foliage.
